The Jazz Kitchen Our recording studio, The Jazz Kitchen, in Burlington, Ontario, is rapidly becoming known for quality productions at a reasonable price. As musicians ourselves, we want to reflect the passion and fire of your music in the final recorded product. The cleanliness of even the mp3’s of our music and those of our clients played on this site and others will indicate the quality of our equipment and recording technique. The heart of our studio is the recording program Reaper, an RME-800 firewire interface and a 2.4 GHz, dual core Music XPC S3 computer with 2G of RAM and four hard drives totaling 1.2 Terabytes of storage. We also use AKG and Audio-Technica mics to achieve clean, quality tracks. In addition to Reaper, software includes Soundforge, iZotope and CD Architect. More than 250 payware plug-ins provide a wide variety of equalizers, compressors, limiters, autotuners, reverbs and many other effects. With this state-of-the-art hardware and software combination, we can take your project from a dream to a final mastered "red-book" CD suitable for replication or duplication.

Our rates for recording are highly competitive and can make your project more economically feasible. We can provide much of the musical gear if needed as well as arrangements, back-up vocals and instrumentals, all at very reasonable rates. We prefer working with singer/songwriters or smaller groups (single to trios.) We provide on-location recording if requested. We also provide musical scores for film and television and other commissioned pieces. Try our recently added service of audio restoration. We can take out the clicks, scratches and hiss from all of your old but dearly loved cassettes, LP's, 45's or even 78 rpm vinyl and transfer to pristine new CD's. Please contact us for a quotation on any of these services.

Having been an entertainer for many years, I had cassette tapes of my performances from the 1980’s that I wanted to convert to CD's. I had no idea what a difficult venture that would be. Sound engineers from other production companies kept saying that there was no way to eliminate background noise from the tapes and as a result the CD quality would not be an acceptable product. The Jazz Kitchen changed all that and as I sit listening to the remastered songs on CD, I am thrilled by the quality, clarity and balance. I recommend the professional services of the Jazz Kitchen to any artist. I am now able to market my CD’s during the 2007 Christmas Season. Thanks, Jazz Kitchen for this gift which I will be sharing with others.

I just wanted to say thanks again for all the work you've done with me, I believe my music has grown so much because of both of you, and I truly do appreciate it. I have been getting great feedback on the music that I have been showing people online and off, which, for someone like myself with not much confidence in my own music, really means a lot.

A word of endorsement! I have had the privilege and great pleasure of working with Barry and Barbara Simmons in the studio. They have been instrumental in the successful completion of my recent CD "Coming Together". Their creative approach to music recording and production has made the experience one of enlightenment and superior satisfaction. I encourage anyone wishing to obtain advice and expertise in the area of music reproduction and recording to take advantage of the endless wealth of knowledge and experience offered through Buster' n Babbles. My sincere thanks for their support and gift of music!

"The Jazz Kitchen" is an appropriate name for a recording studio in which I often felt I was at a banquet. The recording experience can easily make a person feel nervous and yet it is essential to be relaxed in order to play or sing your best. That is why the peaceful, supportive, and fun atmosphere created by Barry and Barbara, along with their technical skill, made it easy for me to sing my heart out and even enjoy the experience - like I was at a musician’s banquet. I have left the ‘kitchen’ with a CD I am very happy with, two new friends, and a stronger vision for what I am called to do. That’s more than I can ever put a price tag on.

"Recording with Barry and Barbara was an experience I'll never forget! The relaxed atmosphere they provided put me completely at ease to be myself and try new things musically. They should really charge extra for encouragement - I felt as though I was handled like a rare treasure! Their rates are very affordable, and the delicious lunches they served were worth it all! I highly recommend Barry and Barbara and The Jazz Kitchen."

"Barry and Barbara composed, performed and recorded three pieces of original music to accompany three art themes used in Living Artfully workshops. The music and arrangements more than met the requirements of the project. The pieces took on a life of their own, catching the spirit of each theme and have been inspirational even independently of the artwork they were meant to reflect. The work was completed on-time and on-budget. We were very pleased with the final product and we would not hesitate to use or recommend the services of Barry and Barbara."

"Barry and Barbara Simmons recorded the CD "Sing the Wild" on behalf of the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. In addition to recording a number of narrative tracks, Barry and Barbara produced, arranged and performed all the music on the CD using a few song ideas provided by Aspen Valley. The end result was a highly professional product, produced on-time and on-budget. It has proven to be a successful fund raiser for Aspen Valley. We were very pleased by the quality and professionalism shown by Barry and Barbara and I would not hesitate in recommending their services to other clients."
